Jump!

Debut author Oscar Avery has written a gorgeously illustrated, inclusive picture book that deftly raises awareness of children with disabilities. In this powerful story, Kayla is a neighborhood jump-roping legend who happens to have a prosthetic leg. Kayla’s prominence is threatened when Rolesha, a new girl who is also an excellent jump-roper, moves into the neighborhood. A jump-off is organized by members of the community, leaving a town divided on who will win the reign of Jump Rope Queen of the Neighborhood.
